Austin Facelift Specialists

Facelifts give a more youthful appearance to the face

Aging is inevitable, but thankfully you don’t always have to look your age. Surgery for facial rejuvenation continues to grow in popularity. Commonly, the procedure to accomplish this is called a facelift but there are many other terms such as: neck lift, rhytidectomy, midface lift, and others depending on your particular needs and goals. As you age, changes may be apparent in the neck and face. Without a doubt, the most common area requiring correction is the excess skin and laxity in the neck. Other changes can present as sagging skin and soft tissue in the mid face and cheek. This may also be present along the jaw line (jowling). A loss of tissue volume or hollowing in different areas of the face can also become a problem.

It doesn’t help that we live in Texas, of course, and many of our Austin area facelift candidates seek us out because of damage caused by the harsh rays of the sun. Combining all of the above-mentioned issues will help to develop the proper surgical plan for you. A Texas native himself, Dr. McFate has learned all of the different and most current facelift techniques. He trained with some of the most successful facial plastic surgeons in Texas and beyond. Now as an Austin-area plastic surgeon, Dr. McFate is eager to discuss your desired results. Contact him today to get the process started.

The Operation

The operation typically takes between 4-6 hours and can be performed in an outpatient setting at our Austin area plastic surgery center with intravenous anesthesia. We can also perform a facelift at many of the Austin area hospitals with general anesthesia and provide an overnight stay. The procedure typically consists of incisions made beginning in the side burn portion of the hair that follows along the outline of the ear and into the hair on the posterior neck. Of course, this can vary depending on your particular needs. In addition, there may also be a separate small incision below the chin. Skin and underlying soft tissues are elevated, moved into a youthful position, and excess skin is removed.

We Can Help You Look Your Best

In some patients, liposuction from the abdomen or thighs may be used to capture fat for transfer to the face. This is particularly important for patients with depressions from loss of tissues beneath the skin. Small drain tubes are placed at the time of surgery and removed the following day. After surgery, you should plan to avoid any strenuous activity that will elevate the heart rate for two weeks. Commonly, our facelift patients in Austin will combine their procedures with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or a brow lift. Please request a consultation with Dr. McFate to determine which procedures are appropriate for your individual needs in order to meet your goals. Don’t let age or the Texas sun make you look older than you feel. Wherever you are in life, we can help you look your best.

Am I a Candidate?

A patient seeking facial rejuvenation should realize there is no facelift for all seasons, meaning there is not one procedure for everyone. The plans for your surgery depend on your individual goals, degree of correction required, and unique facial structure. Candidates requesting facelift surgery should be in good health, not currently taking blood thinning medications, non-smoking, and have reasonable expectations.
